Applications

  • High-density air cooling
  • Hybrid liquid cooling modules
  • Telecom and 5G equipment
  • Power supply and inverter cooling

Skiving cuts fins out of a solid block, so the fin and the base are one continuous piece of metal with no thermal interface between them. That removes the joint resistance you get with bonded or soldered fins, and it lets us push fin pitch down to 0.3 mm with heights up to 60 mm without the fins collapsing under the tool. For high-density air cooling or as the fin side of a hybrid liquid block, skived stacks outperform anything assembled from separate parts.

Key features

  • Fin and base are one piece — no joint resistance
  • Fin pitch down to 0.3 mm, height up to 60 mm
  • No solder, no adhesive, no galvanic corrosion
  • Copper or aluminium from one supplier
  • Machined mounting features and cut-outs

Scope of delivery

  • Fins protected with foam insert
  • Stacked in export cartons
  • Dimensional report per batch

Quality control

Every batch is checked on a coordinate measuring machine, with calipers, micrometers and gauge blocks on the shop floor. A dimensional report is available with each shipment and first-article inspection is free on series orders.

Competitive advantages

  • vs. Soldered fin heatsinks: Skived fins are one continuous piece: no solder joint, no thermal gap, no galvanic corrosion under condensation
  • vs. Extruded aluminium heatsinks: Fin pitch down to 0.3 mm without collapse; extrusion limits are ~0.5 mm pitch at full height
  • vs. Die-cast copper heatsinks: Machined skived fins with 0.03 mm mounting-face flatness vs. cast die-face distortion after ejection
  • vs. Stock PC-cooling copper blocks: Custom skived geometry matched to your airflow or liquid-block interface; standard blocks do not fit non-standard housings

Frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No. We machine one piece as readily as one thousand. Unit price improves noticeably at 50, 200 and 1,000 pieces because setup and programming amortise, and we use the same programme and fixtures from prototype through to series.

How long does a quote take, and what about lead time?

Quotes are returned within 24 working hours, usually the same day for simple parts. Production lead time is typically 7–20 working days depending on complexity, material availability and finishing.

Can you work without a drawing?

Yes. Send a sample part and we will measure it and produce a drawing for your approval before machining. This is common for replacement parts and legacy equipment where no drawing exists.
